The Mayyas are all female group dancers who are known for nearly perfect choreographed moves. Mayyas means “the proud walk of a lioness” in Arabic.
The dance group was formed by Nadim Cherfan and he is also responsible for all the coordination of act and routine moves of the group. The 36 crew dancers are all Lebanese who live in Beirut and have been together for over fours.
In 2019, the Mayyas got to the semifinals of Britain’s Got Talent: “The Champions” and also won the first place in Arabs Got Talent event.
Fast forward to September 2022, they took the world by storm by winning the season 17 of America’s Got Talent and claim the keenly contested one million dollars grand prize. The Mayyas also received judge Sofía Vergara’s Golden Buzzer of the contest who described their performance as margical.
Nadim Cherfan, the choreographer, has worked with 300 Lebanese girls and women in his 17 years as a dance teacher.
The Mayyas enjoyed the support of Lebanese fans during their quest for the American Got Talent Competition. The Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International also launched an advertising campaign in the US with the slogan “Kermalak Ya Lebnen” which translates to ‘For You Lebanon’ to promote and support them.
The Mayyas are indeed the pride of every Arabic Girl Child.
